I can't believe it... In 4 days I return to the States. Do you know how crazy that is???
Time flies when you are having fun, that's for sure. But, let me tell you about what I've been up to lately....
Sooo, for the past two weeks, I've been getting my Carmen Sandiego on. I started in Blois, took the train to Paris with BERRRTHAAA!!!! to drop off my luggage. Then I spent the night at Hotel Orly. You've never heard of that hotel??? You don't say........Well that is my way of glamorizing the night I spent on wooden chairs in the airport. I had an early flight the next day and there was no other option.
So from Paris I headed to Athens, where I couch surfed for 2 nights, then spent the rest in a hostel. I met some cools Brits. We sang every Disney song under the sun, ate lots of gyros, and basically had tons of fun.
In Athens, I got to see the Acropolis, the Olympic Stadium, and some other things the captions of my photos will explain...
It just so happened that my favorite Brits were headed to Santorini on the same day and on the same early ferry. Awesome right?! In Santorini we got split up because we stayed in different accomodations, but we found each other for our last night and had a good ole time.
But while I was in Santorini, I visited Perissa and Oia. Oia is supposed to have some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. So after hiking for 4 hours to Oia, we posted up in a cafe overlooking the sea. Just in time to see clouds move in.... (-_-) That's all I have to say about that.
Then, I took the ferry back to Athens... I confirmed that I am allergic to cigarette smoke... Played a mean game of Go Fish with the Brits.....and the next day I headed to Rome.
Rome...Rome...Rome... what can I say....
A beautiful city, with so much to do and see. It is much smaller than Paris though, which was very surprising. You could walk clear across the city, and at the end of the day, your feet wouldn't hurt. That's crazy...
Saw some cool stuff there too, the Colosseum...the Vatican...
In my hostel in Rome, I met an American guy whose love for ice cream/gelato rivaled my own... I thought it was impossible to find someone like that, lol. So one night, we weren't that hungry, so we decided to roam around Rome (Ba-doomp-shhhh) and share different street foods, but mainly, different combinations of ice cream/gelato.
Here are some of the flavors we tried: banana/nutella, mint/chocolate, pineapple/coconut, caramel/chocolate. My taste buds were in HEAVEN. In Athens somewhere, I had creme brulée/caramel and in Venice I had Vanilla Bourbon/ Chocolate... You think BERRRTTHHAA!!! has room to fit a European ice cream shop??? Hmmm *scratches temple*
So yeah, I ate a lot of ice cream. I made up for it in brisk European walking, I promise :).
Then I was off to Venice! Such a beautiful city.
I'll share a brain fart moment with you for laughs. If you can't tell by now, I traveled alone. And since my internal compass doesn't exist, I get lost ridiculously easy. Knowing that, I looked up a lot of information before my travels, including public transportation in the various cities... And for the life of me, I could not understand why there wasn't a website for the metro in Venice...Duh Sharae, there are no streets in Venice... It is just a maze of sidewalk.
Anywho, in Venice I rented a room on Airbnb and I had the most wonderful host in the world. I pretty much walked around Venice in circles. They say everyone gets lost there, so I wasn't even gonna try to act like I wasn't going to be a statistic. This picture explains it all...
I saw this image on shirts and I thought it was an exaggeration. Nope. Lets just say, one night I wanted to eat dinner while watching the sun set. Do you see how bright it is in this picture? Well, I ate dinner in the dark... But that is neither here nor there, lol
Here is a link to some more pics from Greece: Athens and Santorini...
Ok, off to Versailles for the day. Pics from Rome and Venice coming soon!
Ttyl. Smooches!
