Countdown…two weeks…

ACTION!

Dedicated, fabulous reader, a.k.a. YOU: Ayo, Rae…what’s the countdown for?

Rae: Two weeks until I move back to the States.

Awesome, beautiful reader, a.k.a. YOU: Omgnesss! How do you feel? Are you sad, excited…(*insert list of emotions that I’m not feeling*)?

Rae: Naw, not really…. I haven’t given it much thought.

Scene.

Scratch that…

…Repeat scene everyday with every person I have talked to for the past two months…

---

Honestly, I think I’m in denial.  It’s not like I’m dying to stay here, but I’m not dying to leave either. I think what makes me feel this way is the death, burial, and memorial of a good work/life balance.

**tears**

I am not looking forward going back to the American teacher lifestyle.

Hol’ up!  Oh you ain’t know…

Lemme tell ya something (*Fire Marshall Bill voice*)

Brace yoself…

In France, K-12 teachers get two weeks of vacation after every six weeks of school…

…I don’t think you heard me…

…Let me clear my throat…

(Cue Doug E. Fresh)

…K-12 teachers get two weeks of vacation after every six weeks of school…

(Have mercy babe, I hope ya don’t mind…)

…Let me say it again for the people in the back…

In France, K-12 TEACHERS GET TWO WEEKS OF VACATION AFTER EVERY SIX WEEKS OF SCHOOL!

(Puerto Rico…Black people…)

AND… the school year is still September to June…

…I don’t ask questions. I just sleep in.

I’m going to stop screaming now. I just wanted to make sure that you heard me.

The only things we look forward to on the east coast are snow days.  It doesn’t snow in Paris, so you can understand the necessity of such a system.

So what have I been up to, you ask?

Well, I turned 30 a month and a day ago.  That very same day Queen Bey gave birth to Sir and Rumi.

Flag Day Babies. Holla.

I traveled for two weeks with a good friend and another friend joined in Paris. I spent time in Morocco and Barcelona, but if you follow me on FB and/or IG, you KNOW this already.

Morocco in a few words: Souks. Sensory overload. Everyone is trying to scam you. Trust NO ONE.

Barcelona in a few words: Sangria for the win! Best mussels I’ve ever had in my LIFE! BEST Scallops I’ve ever had in my LIFE! Real rap…Take me back...

So now, I’m trying to enjoy my last days in Paris. I need to frolic in these Parisian streets.

It's tough to think that everything I do might be the last time I do it....at least for a long time...

Today...I almost took a picture of a sign in Gare du Nord. LOL! There is NOTHING exciting about Gare du Nord...now I want some peanuts.

Anywho...

Today, I went to the first day of AfroPunk and my line sister is here. Say whaaaaaat…

---

Ok, I’m going to go stream my new obsession…Jane the Virgin.

Rafael...ultimate swoon.

Later gators…

Thanks for reading.

Gros bisous.
